  What is Botox for? Botox cosmetic is used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles typically in the upper 1/3 of the face. Botox and it’s equivalents, Dysport® and Xeomin®, are all FDA approved, purified forms of botulinum toxin used in cosmetic settings to temporary treat overactive muscles that cause “dynamic” wrinkles. Are the injections painful? We use the smallest needles available to inject Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. These are the same type needles used for daily insulin injections and most clients say the treatments are very tolerable and we have several clever methods to help those who are anxious about the injections. What Are The Possible Side Effects? BOTOX injections are incredibly common and safe procedures. Depending on the injection site, cosmetic side effects may include eyelid drooping and swelling at the injection site. How long will my results last? Botox effectively relaxes the muscles responsible for wrinkles for at least 3 months. It varies how long it will take wrinkles to reappear, but it is usually between 3-5 months for most patients. What is the ideal age to start treatments? Although Botox Cosmetic is approved for adults over 18, we recommend treatments to begin when visible lines begin to appear even when muscles are relaxed. Can I combine Botox and other dermal fillers or treatments? Yes! You can safely combine your injectable treatments for convenience. Most individuals experience not only lines from overactive muscles but also volume loss as well as sun damage. Addressing all these factors of aging skin provide superior results! Many treatments such as chemical peels, certain laser and others can be followed with your Botox injections and many clients opt to have combination treatments at the same visit. • Dysport®

  Prescription Dysport® injectable is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment for temporarily lessening or eliminating moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport injectable is placed directly into the muscle underneath a furrow, weakening the muscle to the point where it cannot contract. Dysport, also known as Reloxin, is made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum; it is the same neurotoxin used in BOTOX Cosmetic.

• Xeomin®

  XEOMIN® is a highly purified neurotoxin. XEOMIN® approved by the FDA for the treatment of adults with moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Frown lines form when facial expressions are made as the muscle under the skin contracts. Over time, as your skin ages, these repeated expressions cause lasting frown lines. Neurotoxins, such as XEOMIN®, are prescription medications that block the release of chemicals that cause these muscle contractions. So frown lines are softened.

• JUVÉDERM®

  JUVÉDERM® Ultra Touted as the “next generation” of facial fillers, JUVÉDERM® injectable hyaluronic acid gels gently smooth wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose and restore a youthful volume to the face. JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC use a more advanced, cross-linked formula for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles or folds in the mid- to deep dermis. While Juvederm XC smoothes moderate to severe parenthesis lines and wrinkles to create a smoother appearance, Juvederm Ultra XC adds fullness to plump and fill the lips. Juvederm has been proven to last up to 1 year in wrinkles and folds and when treated again after one year, patients need less products to achieve their results. JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC is a bold hyaluronic acid injectable filler that instantly adds volume to the cheek and mid-face area, giving patients a visible lift. By helping to restore contour and a more youthful profile to the cheeks, the product “fills” laxity in loose skin, creating a lifting effect in the nasolabial folds, “marionette” lines, jowls and eye area. JUVÉDERM VOLUMATM XC is FDA approved to last up to 2 years. Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine is the latest advancement in the Juvéderm® range of facial fillers, developed specifically for your lips and mouth area. It is a smooth gel that is injected using an ultra-fine needle. It has been specifically developed as a smooth gel to give a soft, natural feel. The gel fills in lip lines and wrinkles while the hyaluronic acid within attracts and retains moisture, so results can last up to a year.

  Restylane-L® Restylane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid, helping to visibly correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, including the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds or laugh lines), the corners of the mouth and marionette lines — the area that extends downward from the corners of the mouth to the jawline. Additionally, Restylane and Restylane® Silk are FDA-approved for lip enhancement in patients over the age of 21, and are uniquely formulated to give your lips fullness and definition. Restylane Silk® The lips and the lines around the mouth, like other areas of the face, show signs of aging as you get older. This often results in lip thinning, lost shape and an increase in vertical lines above the lip. Restylane Silk is designed to provide precise lip shaping with natural-looking results in these particular areas by using smaller, smoother particles than those used in other Restylane® products. Restylane LYFT® As we age and our faces lose volume, resulting in sagging skin, more prominent wrinkles and a reduction of volume. Some of us begin to look for ways to regain more definition in our cheeks without surgery. Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane-L®, is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel used to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the face. Restylane Lyft is the first and only FDA-approved filler indicated to provide lift to cheeks and add volume to correct and smooth smile lines (nasolabial folds). Dermal Filler Injections FAQs Am I a candidate for dermal filler injections? Dermal fillers work well and are safe for nearly anyone who is interested in smoothing wrinkles around the mouth and face as well as restoring volume to the lips, cheeks, or under eye hollows. Most fillers we use are made from substances found naturally in the body. During your consult, care is provided to determine if you have any conditions that require extra precautions. At this visit, you will be advised on the advantages of Sculptra® Aesthetic, Radiesse®, Juvéderm, Voluma XC, Volbella XC or Restylane and to determine which dermal filler is right for you. How long does a dermal filler injection last on average? Dermal fillers are not meant to be permanent. Most dermal filler results are immediate while other fillers actually promote your own collagen and last much longer. Overall, filler correction results last from 6 months up to 2 years (and much longer) depending on the type of fillers used. All filler ingredients gradually break down and filter out of the body by normal metabolic processes. Many fillers can actually be “erased” if desired. Will my injection sites be painful? Dermal injection comfort can be increased by the use of topical numbing creams, needle-free injections, special techniques and more. Dermal filler injections do not need to be painful! The areas treated may be slightly sore for a few days but simple cool compresses relieve most discomfort. What is the difference between dermal fillers? There are many pharmaceutical companies that offer a variety of dermal fillers, each with unique properties that offer advantages depending on the areas treated and the desired result. Most dermal fillers such as Juvéderm and Restylane® are hyaluronic acid gel variations that are manufactured with specific thicknesses along with other properties designed for specific results such as adding volume, plumping, lifting, smoothing and more. Other fillers, such as Radiesse® and Sculptra® Aesthetic, contain microspheres that promote your own collagen and provide longer lasting results. The good news is our experienced and masterful injectors know how to strategically administer the right fillers in the right areas to provide the exact look you desire!

• Sculptra® Aesthetic

Intense-Pulsed-Light (IPL) skin rejuvenation uses high-energy pulses of light to improve the skin’s appearance. • Photodynamic Therapy For Acne Removal

  Controls Acne ~ Reduces Redness ~ Reduces Oily Skin Photodynamic Therapy is a “boosted” medical laser light therapy using Levulan® to enhance the treatment of intense pulsed light and blue LED to treat acne. Levulan is absorbed by acne causing bacteria (P. Acnes) and by over-active oil glands. This focuses the LED and IPL laser energy and targets the treatment to actually destroy acne causing bacteria and shrink the oil producing glands. This results in a drastic reduction in inflammatory acne lesions and a reduction in sebum production. This therapy is also very effective at treating precancerous “actinic keratosis” lesions on the skin as those lesions absorb the Levulan as well. One to three treatments are usually required for the desired result.

• Tattoo Removal

  Q-Switched YAG/KTP Laser Tattoo Removal For multiple reasons, body art may become undesirable. A Q-switched laser is the most frequently used laser for tattoo removal. The laser “shatters” the pigment into particles small enough for the ink to be removed by the body’s natural filtering system. Our Q-switched 1064nm/532nm laser can effectively remove an array of tattoo ink colors with minimal risk. (Multiple treatments may be required and there are some colors resistant to laser tattoo removal). We also offer Describe Transparent PFD Patches that decrease discomfort and allow for multiple treatments in one session. The Laser Tattoo Removal Procedure An hour before the laser tattoo removal procedure begins, it is recommended that acetaminophen be taken to help minimize discomfort. Numbing cream, ice or chilled air may be applied. Just before the procedure begins, the patient is given a shield to protect his or her eyes from the laser. The skin is tested to determine the response to the laser and to determine the most effective approach. The intense nanosecond pulses are sent from the Q-switched laser to the skin. If the PFD patch is used, multiple treatments may be administered. How Long Does a Tattoo Removal Session Last? Each laser tattoo removal session lasts only a few minutes and, at the end of each session, topical antibiotic and a bandage are then applied and patients are encouraged to ice the area for 30 minutes. There is no real downtime and the clients can resume normal activities although the area must be kept clean and free from irritation for a few days.
